After passing the initial interview for Starbucks, this would be your next step. So if you read my first post regarding Starbucks Interview, it was held September 9, 2015, Wednesday. Thursday, I received a text again from Starbucks.
I was surprised that it took me just a day to wait for it. They told us that it might take us 2-3 weeks of waiting... Well that was fast! 😂 So yeah, that night my heart didn't stop from beating fast. My stomach keeps on turning since it's the last interview I'll have for this application. So I prepared what I would wear and thought of possible things that they might ask. Ms. Ma-Ann and Janine told us that it would be situational kinda questions. Based on experiences, skills or what you'll offer for them.
TIP: Prepare yourself for hard questions about yourself experiences or hard situations. Think and practice answering so you'll not be as nervous when interview day comes.
I woke up 7:15 am which is an hour late for the supposed time I'd wake up. ( I don't use alarm, pet peeve) This time, I made sure that I'm not gonna be late since it's just near. So I took off by 8 am and arrived there quarter before 9 am. To my surprise, there were 11 more people there already waiting outside Starbucks Robinsons Las Piñas. So I decided to take a seat and wait as well. My heart's pumping already. This is it! So a guy came handing me a sheet of paper and told me to write my name at the attendance then a few more people added. We're about 20 when they started calling names. I gladly talked to the girl who sat in front of me to ease my worry and tension. Her name is Fritzkhan and we talked about our journey during our first interview and about personal stuff. It was nice meeting a new friend during hard times like that.
In case you're wondering, a district manager handles a set of stores in a certain area where he supervises them. (Higher than store manager) so I guess that's the reason why there are lots of interviewees that day, since we're all from the south. There are 6-8 store managers of different branches inside and one district manager.
Store Manager Interview
So I got called after 15minutes of waiting and I followed him inside. He's the store manager of the branch they're assigning me (if ever). It's not my choice of branch but atleast it's near my house (30 mins travel, heavy traffic time included) I think they would place you where you're near or where you preferred to be assigned.
So it started with greeting each other and handshake, and he asked me to introduce myself. (Same with the initial interview) then followed by 10 or more questions. It lasted for 30-35mins. Mostly about the skills, experiences, and situations. It's really just easy if you really analyze the questions. Big questions were Why should we hire you? What can you offer in helping the store? Do you value (specific skills, or personality) and how? He's very easy to talk to since he's still young. During interview, he smiles and nods too from time to time so it's a sign that I'm doing a good job.
After the interview, he smiled and thanked me and told me to wait outside if ever I'd be interviewed by the District Manager. So I waited with my friend again (she wasn't called yet) and it took them 20-25 mins before calling me back again since it's a continuous interview, I expected to wait for minutes since we only have 1 district manager so I needed to wait for my turn (if ever I passed store manager's interview)
District Manager Interview
He told me to sit down in front of him just like the Store Manager and smiled. He introduced himself and we shook hands. So he reviewed my resumé and started asking me questions. First, introduction and then followed by 5 but less than 10 questions. Mostly the biggest questions, like What are your expectations when it comes to Starbucks? Tell me what kind of person are you, who is Zahra? I was also asked same questions with the recruiter. He's really approachable and easy to talk to so no need to be nervous. :) After the interview, he told me that they will just contact me after a week or two of processing for the training (if ever).
Then I went out and joined my friend which still wasn't called. Haha i waited there for an hour with my other co applicants who became my friends as well and talked about the whole experience.
TIPS
> Smile, it's always important to smile since you need to promote a friendly and good vibe if you're gonna work for service industry.
> Dress appropriately and maintain the posture so you'd look credible and presentable.
> Be polite, humble and confident. It's nice to brag a bit but just in right amount to impress them, you don't wanna look cocky. Right?
> Always answer on point. Don't ramble, less is better. But not too less to the point that you don't make any sense at all.
> Maintain eye contact, I know it's hard especially when you're thinking. I myself had a hard time with this since it's a habit of mine to look other ways when I'm thinking. But when they're talking and asking you, make sure to look at their eyes.
> Be yourself, sell yourself, don't let the tension eat you.
> Pray! Breathe in... Breathe out... Haha it helps to calm you down.
> Make the most out of it, it's your last shot! Better to do your best than be regretful.
So I wish you best of luck and may this help you pass! ❤️ See you around! ☺️
Hi zahra, i wanna ask. How would you know if you passed DM interview? i was also advised to wait for HR call.
ReplyDeleteHi, Garie! I actually received a text from them 4 days after the DM interview for the presentation of job offer. You should just wait patiently, I guess? but if you're waiting for more than two weeks already, maybe you can give them a call at their hotline. 896-2755 :)
DeleteHello Zahra, thanks for the information. It's now my 4th day of waiting for the HR call. I was actually thinking if i passed or not then decided to just wait for a while.
DeletePatience is a virtue! Haha :) But if you're rushing to be employed, you can try applying for another job but I think you still have a chance since they asked us to wait for a week or two, right? Where are you from anyway? Hope you get a text/call from them soon! Feel free to ask or update. Goodluck! :)
DeleteHaha very right! I was thankful and overwhelmed that this month of September i'm already finished with the series of interview because as i search a forum regarding Starbucks hiring process (pinoyexchange.com) it took others 2-3 MONTHS before the job offer and orientation. Well i'm just too paranoid if i made it till the DM, it feels "hanging" to know that the result will be coming from HR. I dont have any pendings from other company. Yeah, i can really wait. How was your application? Did you got a call? I'm from Manila. :)
DeleteSame with me! It actually just took me 9 days from the application (waiting time included) til the job offer presentation. :) I'm so happy that I got the job that fast. They texted me to confirm then I went to Makati again for the job offer and discussion of reqs. Btw, I'm processing my reqs already since we would have our orientation on 26. :) and would start October. Hope you get the job too! ☺️
DeleteCheers to us! I'm on processing my requirements already and gonna start by Oct. 5. Goodluck and enjoy! :)
DeleteHi Garie! I'm happy to hear that. Congrats, partner! ☺️
DeleteHi Ms. Zahra ask ko lang how much yung starting salary mo less the tax and etc? :)
DeleteHow would you know if you passed DM?
ReplyDeleteAte, kapag ba talaga sinabi na we'll text you to evaluate your paper, ibig sabihin ba nun hindi pumasa? nainterview na kasi ako sa store manager sa eastwood city nung april 25,2016 tapos wala pa rin akong natatanggap na text. hindi naman nag-aassume na pumasa ako pero pag di ka na tinext ibig sabihin di ka na pasa?
ReplyDeleteHi, ChinChin! Sorry for the late reply. But I'm not really sure how long it takes for them to text back regarding the results of the interview. But I suggest you wait cause sometimes they're basing it on how many baristas they need or maybe they're waiting for stores to open before hiring. I suggest to keep your lines open. They told us before that it might take up to 2weeks. So let's hope for the best! 😊
DeleteHi! I just finished my DM interview today. She said I will expect a text or call from HR for one week for the job offer. Does this mean that I passed? She said that she will just coordinate with the store manager and then the job offer will eventually come to me. Haha! And then when I said thank you to her after the interview, she said, "See you soon." During the interview, it was very casual and she was smiling all the time during the interview with me and during this interview, she is telling me the training process, the salary rate, and the culture of Starbucks. She also said that the interview is basically an interview but an evaluation and formality. Does this mean I got the chance to become a barista? This my 2nd attempt. Thank you for answering.
ReplyDeleteHi Zahra! May posibilidad ba na bumagsak sa district manager? thank you!
ReplyDeletehi Zahra. May posibilidad ba na bumagsak sa DM? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI know it's way too late to reply but anyway, to answer your question, yes there's a possibility to fail the DM interview. I know one of the girls I've met there never received any calls nor text back from Starbucks anymore. I think it depends on the need of the store. :) Hopefully you passed already tho. 😬
DeleteHi there. Did you accept the job? What's the normal number of hours and basic salary for part time?
ReplyDeleteHi Zahra, I am actually done with the 3 interviews. Now, I am waiting for the text if I pass or no sa district manager interview. Idk but I am getting paranoid if I pass or not. She told me to wait until 2weeks or at the end of the month if hindi ako Naka recieved that means I fail the interview. Now, I just want to know kung pasado Kaya ako?
ReplyDelete😢
Hi. I just wanna ask. Diba may 3 locations ka na pwede pagpiliian at isulat? Sa tatlong location ba na yun, pinapasahan nila ng application form? I already passed the initial interview pero yung nagtext sakin for the next interview sa store manager is only my second choice pero malapit naman sya samin ang problema lang yung sobrang traffic. Thank you.

ReplyDeletehi! magkano po yung salary? i know it's above minimum. but how much is it? thankyou!
ReplyDeleteHi, what are the pre-employment requirements? I'm getting my job offer on Monday already and I'm just curious
ReplyDeleteate, I just wanted to ask if. taglish ba yung interview or english lang? also kinakabahan ako. I just passed my initial interview earlier in Makati and I'm currently waiting on the message for my store manager interview. mahirap ba yung questions?
ReplyDeletethank you
Hi Zahra. May height requirement ba sa Starbucks? I mean, if ever na qualified ka naman in terms of skills and knowledge? I'm currently working in a QSR and I've got a workmate saying na baka di ako makapasa kung mag-apply ako dahil masyado akong maliit. Thank you in advance.
ReplyDeleteI just had my interview today and i really can't tell if I passed the interview since i was interviewed direcrly by the SM. btw, I submitted my resume directly to the store where I want to be assigned. I never went throught the initial interview, i received a text msg saying that i have an interview with the store manager. I just find it weird na all the response from other applicants from different website about the hiring process is that they went through initial interview and never saw someone that has the same case with me. so about the interview, i can prolly say that it went well since I was able to answer all the question with confidence. from situational Qs to personal. somehow felt that I made a good impression since the SM's expression was kinda amused. the SM also told me that what she can only offer me is part time since I'm under grad and it is in their policy. Also, she told me that I may earn far from what I may be expecting since it is a part time job (3-4k). then I asked her if there is a possibility for me to be full time eventually if I can provide an outstanding performance with consistency and she said yes. then we had couple of chit chats and as we end the interview she shook my hand and told me that they'll just notify me for updates within the next 2 weeks since there will be an eval together with the other applicants. also, since that she didnt say anything about dm interview, does that mean that there is a high chance that I didn't passed?
ReplyDeletethis is confusing since i didnt went through any initial yet there is no dm interview mentioned nor saying that a text from hr will notify me.
hi, im not sure if active ka pa dito. i just want to know if i failed woth manager's interview, do i still have a chance sa ibang branch or i should wait kung ilang buwan ulit mag re re apply? thanks!
ReplyDeleteHello zarah! What are the questions by the district manager? Is it all about yourself like weaknesses & strength?
